Digital distribution cannot be the only way we find and play new game experiences. This internet-only limitation prevents game designers from exploring novel methods of interaction and keeps players choosing between iterations on popular designs.
the case for pop-up arcades
Games that have novel interactions with unique controller designs exist only at the arcade. The problem is that well-known arcades still operate on a 50-year-old game design genre: pay to play. We need indie games in the arcade space to bring innovation and novelty, and to create another avenue for distribution that is not limited to the internet.
join the lineup
We're seeking new arcade game designs. Whether you're a solo dev with a two-button game or a team shipping your first big release, there's a booth spot for you. We prioritize games with physical or alternative controllers, local multiplayer, and anything that gets a crowd laughing or shouting. If it plays well in a room full of strangers, we want it.
let's make it happen
Creators form a licensing agreement with Game Devision to be able to host the game at the arcade. We'll figure out how to get your custom interface set up. Arcade attendees purchase a token to enter and play as long as they like. Upon exit, they can exchange the token for a little memento from their experience. Licensed games get a portion of the surplus revenue. Everyone wins!
