Why are we doing this?

Support is very limited for game development at the high school level.

There are many students whose love of playing games has grown into an intense desire to make them. However, where do you begin to make games in an enormous, challenging, multi-disciplinary artistic and technical world?

Students who tried to learn on their own told us that they benefit tremendously from the structure, support, and community this program has to offer.

I wish my school had a class or club focused on video game development led by an experienced instructor. In particular, it would have been nice to learn Unity or Unreal in high school. Or even an online, but regular course with regular interaction would be nice rather than modules. I did a module course but it wasn't that enjoyable.

I came from a very poor community, so our resources were scarce. Any classes on regarding game design/development or anything coding related were nonexistent. I was always someone who was very interested in gaming as a career, but was forced to give up on it growing up because it was deemed impossible as I believed there was no jobs in the industry for me or I could never have qualify for those types of positions. I really wish I had people like you who were there for people like me who really needed a proper path or mentor in life to tell me that it was possible.

Courses or clubs at my school for game design would have been fantastic, or at least more acknowledgment of the video games industry as a possible career. At that point in time, I was struggling to figure out how I could turn my skills in art into a job, and the options I thought were available were pretty much just gallery work or freelance.

How do we do this?

Online.

You can do game dev in the comfort of your own home. We understand how important it is to learn modern soft* skills like remote project management, at-home productivity, and collaboration.

Milestone check-ins, discussions, office hours, guest speakers, and help chat all take place on our moderated, invitation-only Discord server.

* It's time to respect what are referred to as "soft skills" as they are difficult and important skills to learn.

In-person.

Many industry events happen right here! Game Devision is headquartered in the San Francisco bay area, a well-established center of AAA game studios, professional independent studios, and countless aspirational indie devs.

We are constantly on the look out for age-appropriate events for our students, including academic associations with nearby secondary schools.

How much does it cost?

We offer both an enrichment program and differentiated learning. Pricing is based on the level of support needed.

All subscriptions are money-back guaranteed.
